Job Description

Analyzes, verifies, secures authorization, processes and provides related financial support for pharmaceuticals listed in the Sunrise Pharmacy database for the Health System. Assists with implementation of systems or procedures resulting in the accurate reporting of financial or system data.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyzes, verifies, tracks and reports on financial indicators for pharmaceuticals listed in the Sunrise Pharmacy charge description master for the Health System (pharmaceutical price changes, account coding and charging, cash flow, budgets, GL, P&L, statistical data and reserves).

  • Monitors for price changes of medications.

  • Initiates price change maintenance.

  • Submits price changes to SRx team.

  • Supports Patient Accounting and Pharmacy departments regarding cost updates.

  • Troubleshoots charging questions.

  • Identifies fluctuations in drug costs and alerts appropriate department(s).

  • Converts drug cost into appropriate J code units.

  • Maintains a list of drug conversion from vial size to J code units.

  • Calculates the appropriate cost based on J code units.

  • Assists with modifying systems and procedures to enhance departmental processing as needed.

  • Maintains proprietary databases including data integrity, timeliness of data input and accuracy of data.

  • Conducts internal audits involving coding charging, reimbursements, etc. to ensure compliance to departmental policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.

  • Maintains compliance with various state, federal and industry standards and regulations.

  • Performs related duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, required. PharmD, preferred.

  • Minimum of one (1) year Pharmacy related experience, required.

  • Currently licensed and registered as Pharmacist in the State of New York.

  • Current knowledge of CPT-4/HCPCS pharmacy coding and reimbursement changes, preferred.

  • Maintains current knowledge of various state, federal and industrial standards and regulations.
