Position Summary:

Plans, coordinates and evaluates the attainment of Nursing Magnet designation and subsequent recertification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Works with CNO to align strategic plan with the Magnet model. Develops and leads multidisciplinary teams to incorporate the Magnet Standards when executing plan. Develops and maintains systems for tracking and evaluating Magnet recognition Program Standards of Care. Performs analysis to establish a baseline measurement Site position in relation on Magnet principles and standards. Identifies gaps in preventing the Site from attaining Magnet status. Collaborates with nursing leadership – Collaborative Care Councils to formulate a plan to eliminate gaps and deficiencies. Collaborates with nursing leadership and staff nurses to identify opportunities for improvement in meeting full compliance with the Magnet Recognition Program Standards of Care and other regulatory agencies. Establishes a timeline for each step of the Magnet designation and re-designation process; ensures deadlines are achieved. Establishes Magnet teams to work on the magnet preparation process; encourages staff nurse participation. Prepares and organizes documentation required for a successful site visit and coordinates all communication with the ANCC. Ensures data collection and analysis related to Magnet designation and other quality requirements (NDNQI, KQMI, etc.) Collaborates with clinical and non-clinical department heads to cultivate consistent and effective communication. Ensures fluency and clarity of all developed content. Ensures consistency in presentation of written materials and other standardized content.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Master’s Degree in Nursing, required. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Minimum of seven (7) years progressive clinical/healthcare administrative experience, required. Prior experience in researching, writing, editing, and reviewing clinical documents, required. Extensive knowledge and skills in writing, editing and publishing in a clinical environments, required. Outstanding oral and writing skills to communicate effectively with faculty, administration and compliance representatives. Analytical skills to assimilate and summarize complex data, required. Excellent attention to details, especially as related to accuracy of numbers/statements and consistency within and across documents.
