Job Description

The Hospitality Services Representative provides patients and family members with personal care, comfort and emotional support. Monitors the needs of the patients placing an emphasis on patient satisfaction and safety. Functions as a support to the nursing staff by notifying appropriate caregivers when needed. Supports and assists the food and nutrition/dietary staff in providing patient meals in an effort to improve nutritional status and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responds to patient call bell(s) and tends to patient’s comfort needs (i.e., patients in pain, in need of toileting, food requests and phone/television service requests).

  • Answers or relays patient questions or concerns to the appropriate nursing staff.

  • Provides emotional support and comfort care to patients and family members by giving personalized attention, minimizing patient anxiety and boosting patient and family member’s morale.

  • Implements Service Recovery program for patients and families.

  • Ensures patient identification verification through continuous wristband checks.

  • Encourages patients and family members to view the hospitals safety video.

  • Maintains and updates patient communication boards.

  • Collaborates with the Food & Nutrition Department and distributes and collects patient meals.

  • Reviews diet listings before each meal with the nursing staff to ensure correct patient diet orders and NPO adherence.

  • Observes patient eating patterns and monitors diabetic patient food consumption and reports patients at high risk for hypoglycemia to the nursing staff.

  • Requests Silver Spoon Service as needed.

  • Supports the “Falling Star” initiative by monitoring patients who are at high risk for falls.

  • Documents patient input and output levels for the nursing staff.

  • Reports service problems and provide patient and family member’s feedback to the appropriate department team members.

  • Performs related duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) preferred. May be obtained during the first three months of hire.

  • Two (2) years’ experience in customer service or hospitality services preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and basic math skills required.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English preferred.
