The manager plans, organizes and manages the staff and activities of the LIS department to ensure achievement of department goals and objectives in accordance with all internal and external rules and regulations. Oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance and enhancement of the Laboratory Information Systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and implements staffing requirements.

  • Develops and manages reporting staff.

  • Assists with the development of functional requirements, benefits analysis and priorities for LIS projects.

  • Recommends, implements and adheres to approved operating goals, objectives and budget. Reports operational performance, justification and/or corrective action.

  • Ensures coordination, integration, communication, implementation, integrity and evaluation of operating policies and procedures consistent with System Laboratory guidelines.

  • Builds and maintains productive intra-departmental work relationships to optimize operations.

  • Ensures compliance with government and agency regulations, e.g., data security, HIV legislation, CAP, JCAHO, and NYSDOH guidelines.

  • Performs related duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, required. Master’s Degree, preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in information systems, including operating knowledge of Laboratory systems and leadership, required.
