Our Contract Negotiations Manager advises Northwell Health management on contractual rights and obligations, provides interpretation of terms and conditions, and participates in developing contract policies. In this role, you must be able to negotiate and oversee administration of terms and conditions for health system procurement contracts. You will collaborate and coordinate with Legal, IT, as well as other health system departments and vendors in negotiation and administration of contracts. You should be able to review company and customer objectives and resolves issues regarding contract compliance. It is important that you are able to communicate in a positive and an efficient manner with team members in order to ensure a pleasant and safe environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Reviews, drafts, edits and negotiates contractual terms and conditions with vendors.

  • Collaborates with technical teams to analyze acquisition requirements. Advises staff and management regarding contract terms and conditions, applicable health system policies and procedures, and best practices to advance Procurement department business objectives.

  • Researches and recommends contract policies and procedures, maintains strong understanding of industry best practices and current developments in contract administration.

  • Maintains database of contracts including key terms and conditions necessary for the proper administration of health system contract agreements.

  • Responds to inquiries regarding contract obligations. Advises project leaders regarding contractual issues. Collaborates with vendors and health system teams to understand and resolve contractual issues.

  • Prepares management reports regarding contract status, compliance, modifications, etc.

  • Monitors active contracts and collaborates with Procurement staff to ensure contractual commitments are understood and met.

  • Oversees contract tracking system to ensure timely renewal/bid process and notification of expirations.

  • Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Contract Management or related field, required. Master's Degree, preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive related procurement experience including; sourcing, contract negotiation, monitoring and reporting contract performance, project management and leadership.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, required.

  • Expert negotiation, analytical, organization and problem solving skills.
